Wednesday Amazon announced they are offering bookstores a deal they hope they cannot refuse.
They are offering independent bookstores 10 percent of the cut if they agree to sell the Kindle.
They will get the ten percent on the Kindle DEVICE and and digital books sold through the Kindle.
The program, called "Amazon Source," will also give booksellers a discount when they purchase Kindles for resale.
Retailers that don't classify themselves as booksellers get a larger discount on the Kindles but not the 10 percent cut of the books sold on the devices.
Booksellers get a six percent off Kindle devices for resale, while general retailers get 9 percent off.
Action News 5 asked local Memphis bookstore, Booksellers at Laurelwood if they will take Amazon's offer.
